Dr. ORLANDO ESCARCEGA, MD, FACC, FSCAI

Dr. Escárcega completed his residency in internal medicine, and subsequently a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. He went on to complete Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Georgetown University/Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC.
Dr. Escárcega specializes in the evaluation and treatment of coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, common arrhythmias, myocardial and pericardial diseases.
His procedural interests include complex coronary interventions, coronary atherectomy (orbital, rotational and laser), left main interventions and chronic total occlusions. He currently leads the chronic total occlusions program and is the pioneer of the cardiogenic shock program locally.
He is committed to improve patient care to meet the highest national standards, therefore, he serves in multiple hospital physician-lead committees, he is the medical director of the cardiac catheterization laboratories at Lee Health System and is a current member of the Heart and Vascular Institute Board at Lee Health for more than 5 years.
He is one of the founding members of the Gulf-PCI coronary Angio club, which is a conference among hospitals in Florida’s gulf coast. To date, he has over 90 peer-reviewed publications and co-authored over 75 abstracts, presented at renowned international cardiology meetings.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI).
