Elizabeth M. Cosmai, MD, FACC, was born in Brooklyn, New York, but moved to Kissimmee, Florida at the age of 3 and still has family that reside in Central Florida. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Emory University in Atlanta, GA in 1994. She was awarded her medical doctorate degree from the University of Florida-Shands Hospital, Gainesville, FL in 1999. Dr. Cosmai went on to complete her internal medicine residency at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital from 1999-2002. She subsequently completed her Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship at Hartford Hospital, University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Hartford, CT in 2005.

Dr. Cosmai has happily returned to the state of Florida to join our practice. She is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine and a Diplomate of the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology. She is a Fellow in the American College of Cardiology. She is board-eligible in Echocardiography. Dr. Cosmai is also board certified in CT Angiography.

Dr. Cosmai has been recognized as one of Southwest Florida’s 2008 Top 40 Professionals Under 40. One of the reasons she qualified to be one of Southwest Florida’s young stars is her focus on educating people on preventive heart care and maintaining good heart health through proper nutrition, exercise and reducing risk factors that leads to heart disease and stroke. Dr. Cosmai has accomplished this not only by teaching her patients, but also the public through TV interviews and many speaking engagements.

Her interests include General and Preventative Cardiology-especially Women’s Health, Nuclear Cardiology, Transthoracic/Transesophageal Echocardiography, and CT Angiography. Dr. Cosmai joined us August 1, 2005.
